2025 Annual Conference with Julian Henderson

The present and uncertain situation in the Church of England is a good reason to be fearful of the future, especially regarding the eventual outcome of the LLF process. And the challenge is to resist the temptation to let fear of all kinds direct our thoughts and actions. When we look at Jesus and see His remarkable courage in the face of opposition, misunderstanding and the call to suffer and die, we should take heart and pray for that Holy Spirit courage which so characterised His ministry and then transformed the witness of the first disciples. The themes of fear and courage run throughout Scripture and it will be good to explore those more deeply, to equip us for all that God asks of us in His service.

Our speaker, Julian Henderson, is the recently retired Bishop of Blackburn and now holds a licence as an Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Chichester, where he and his wife Heather live close to their grandchildren. In his ministry he served in London, Chichester, Guildford Dioceses before heading North to Lancashire, where he was able to serve for 9 years as a diocesan Bishop. In Guildford he was the Chair of the DEF for a number of years and has retained throughout a commitment to that Anglican position of the supreme authority of Scripture as containing all things necessary for salvation. Currently he is a member of All Saints Lindfield, is on the Sunday coffee rota and helps with the catering at the annual Holiday Club!

We hope you will join us for worship and fellowship…
